Kingsman: The Golden Circle

Kingsman: The Secret Service was undoubtedly one our favorite movies of the past few years, and will definitely go down as one of the funniest and most dapper spy movies to hit the silver screen. But the sense of dress didn't stop there as it would in most movies, it extended beyond the film into a real clothing line managed by Mr Porter and made in collaboration with the best tailors and craftsmen from around the world. You can check it out here.

So we were over the moon to hear that a 2nd installment of Kingsman will be coming out late September, titled Kingsman: The Golden Circle, and starring Jeff Bridges, Colin Firth, and Mark Strong. Until then, here is the trailer for the new movie, and we have to say, it does look epic.

The Art of Japanese Mixology

Never have I, in my nearly 3 decades of international traveling, come across a more dedicated and obsessive people than the Japanese. They are known to devote their full efforts and attention to any task no matter how menial or mundane, no matter how cheap or expensive. You could stumble into a Matsuya in Tokyo (a Japanese fast food franchise) and order a $3 Gyudon (beef bowl over rice) from the vending machine, and expect that the chefs will devote as much dedication and care into your bowl as if they were making it for their own family.

Nowhere is that more prevalent than in the field of mixology. When you order a Japanese cocktail from any of their world renowned bars, know that the cocktail was made with the utmost care and precision, made as a special experience just for you. The Way of the Cocktail is a great mini-documentary that interviews some of the best bartenders in the worlds and describes the truly intricate ways of a Japanese master mixologist.

Proper Driving Etiquette, brought to you by Dunhill

Manufacturers of bespoke suits, leather goods and luxury accessories since 1893, Alfred Dunhill is the quintessential British brand and have probably contributed to the definition of an English Gentleman more than anyone else. 123 years later, and they are still going strong and remain relevant to the ever changing notion of the modern gentleman. This video is no different, combining timeless style, a vintage car, and a drooly companion, it is as funny as it is beautiful.

A Gentleman's Wager, brought to you by Johnny Walker

I knew I had to make up this long hiatus with something good, something worthwhile. Jude Law, the elegantly dressed Englishman alongside the ever-enchanting Italian Mr. Giancarlo Giannini, on top of an exquisite, rare, and handcrafted Italian yacht - two gentleman enjoying a bottle of Johnny Walker Blue Label limited edition. What better way to herald my blogging comeback than to share with you this image of this dapper duo, who don't let anything get in the way of a little adventure and a little gentlemanly wager.

I was never a Johnny Walker fan, but I think with this commercial, they might be wooing me over.

Get Lucky Through the Ages

I came across this video online, and thought it was the perfect time to post it on Dapper New York. Partly, to celebrate Daft Punk's several victories last night at the Grammy's. Partly, to congratulate them on the awesome fact that they are still making music that is relevant now as it was back in 1993 when they first started. And partly, because this fits in well with my earlier post about the evolution of fashion and style across the last century.

This is one man's take on how the music has evolved from 1920 until now, set to the amazing music of Get Lucky.
